FinTech North News and Regional FinTech Developments

FinTech North heads to Liverpool to showcase region’s booming fintech ecosystem

FinTech North is back in Liverpool next week for its first conference of the year, which will bring together industry leaders, regulators, founders and investors to explore fintech’s outlook for 2026 and the crucial role that Liverpool and the wider North is set to play.

Taking place in the city’s thriving tech and creative hub, the Baltic Triangle, the event will welcome a range of prominent speakers including Mastercard, Innovate Finance, Liverpool’s tech accelerator programme Baltic Ventures, and the University of Liverpool.

It will also welcome some of the UK’s most exciting fintech players, including SME challenger business bank Zempler and biometric digital ID specialist, FinGo, which recently introduced the world’s first finger vein-enabled bank-to-bank, face-to-face payments technology.

Speakers will explore important and timely themes including the sector’s economic outlook, fintech innovation across the wider North West, Liverpool’s sub-sector specialisms, AI, risk and regulation, and the latest investment trends, as well as a deep dive into startups and scaling in the region.

The Liverpool City Region is a rapidly growing fintech hub, home to over 40 dedicated fintech firms rising to 100 organisations working across the wider sector. The sector contributes roughly £219m in GVA to the local economy.

Liverpool has long had a strong grounding in fintech, with the University of Liverpool being the first Northern university to launch a fintech course.

The region’s emerging strengths in data, cyber security and applied digital skills, alongside its established wealth management sector, are making it an increasingly attractive base for innovative fintech companies to call home.

As well as hosting several well-recognised figures and organisations, the event will also feature a showcase of local startups, including Breeze Move and Scholar Saver, two growing local businesses that are part of the Baltic Ventures Cohort.

Joe Roche, General Manager of FinTech North, said “We’re ready and raring to go for our first conference of the year and where better to host it than Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, the hub for innovation in the city and home to many of its early-stage and scaling firms.

The Liverpool City Region has firmly established itself as a key Northern fintechhub, building on its long-standing strengths in financial and professional services, digital innovation and academia. So, we’re thrilled to be bringing together some of the most influential people within the sector for a day of reflection, insights, andconnection – and perhaps most importantly, to shape what comes next for the region’s thriving fintech economy.

The conference is held in partnership with Mastercard, Lenvi, DTM Legal and Bruntwood SciTech and will take place at Camp and Furnace on March 19th. Tickets are available here.
