FinTech North Strengthens Ties with West Yorkshire Combined Authority through 2026 Partnership
We’re delighted to announce our partnership with West Yorkshire Combined Authority, deepening our long-standing relationship and formalising a shared commitment to supporting regional FinTech growth, inward investment, and the continued development of West Yorkshire as a leading UK financial centre.
This partnership marks an important step in aligning more closely with the North’s inward investment agencies, ensuring that the region continues to attract, nurture, and retain high-growth fintech businesses from across the UK and internationally.
Leeds has long been recognised as a powerhouse for banking, lending, financial services, and professional services – home to institutions including the Bank of England, the Financial Conduct Authority, and the UK’s major credit reference agencies. With the development of the Northern Square Mile further cementing its role as a centre of financial and legal excellence, the region is uniquely positioned for continued FinTech innovation and investment.
Building on years of collaboration, FinTech North and West Yorkshire Combined Authority will focus on a number of joint initiatives throughout 2026, including:
-
An international webinar exploring synergies between West Yorkshire and key global FinTech markets, promoting shared opportunities and international collaboration
-
Strategic involvement in our flagship Leeds Conference in Q2, highlighting the region’s innovation, talent pipeline, and investment opportunities
-
Strategic advisory collaboration, helping to shape West Yorkshire’s FinTech-focused initiatives and long-term vision
-
Collaboration on international trade opportunities, working together to bring delegations, investors, and global FinTech leaders to the region
Joe Roche, General Manager, FinTech North said:
“FinTech North began its journey in Leeds, so it’s brilliant to be taking this next step with West Yorkshire Combined Authority. Our relationship has grown year on year, and formalising this partnership means we can deliver even greater value for the region and for the wider North. With a renewed focus on international trade and collaboration, we’re really excited for the year ahead.”
Business Advisor to the Mayor, Mandy Ridyard, said,
“Home to the Northern Square Mile, West Yorkshire boasts a multibillion-pound financial services sector and is a global destination for innovation. Creating an economy where businesses get the support they need is paramount to our success, and this new partnership will create more opportunities for international trade and investment, so that more of our companies can create in West Yorkshire and sell to the world.
Through joint trade missions and a flagship conference in Leeds, we will support networks and investment opportunities to drive economic growth, as we welcome the next generation of global FinTech leaders to our region.”
