University of Leeds to host Leeds Financial and FinTech Law Conference 2023 this May 11th



FinTech North is delighted to continue it’s long-standing relationship with the University of Leeds, by supporting an event that we think should be of real interest to our community. Introducing the Leeds Financial and FinTech Law Conference – taking place on the 11th of May from 8:30am-17:00pm in the Liberty Building.

Hosted by the Centre for Business Law and Practice (CBLP), in collaboration with the Singapore Management University Centre for AI and Data Governance (CAIDG), and partly sponsored by the Michael Beverly Innovation Fellowship Programme, this international conference will identify the key elements of success of secondary financial and FinTech centres in the U.K., the U.S. and Singapore in order to make legal-regulatory and policy recommendations for U.K. regulators and policymakers.

The conference offers a regional networking opportunity across academia, legal services, financial and FinTech industry, regulators and policymakers – a much needed platform – whilst ultimately facilitating the UK’s progression towards becoming the most innovative jurisdiction and economy with regards to financial regulation and FinTech. Not only that, but a strong emphasis on protecting the stability of it’s rapidly transforming financial services sector.

The Leeds Financial and FinTech Law Conference 2023 boasts a fantastic line-up of speakers across a mix of keynotes and 3 panel discussions, featuring speakers such as: Sir Roger Marsh OBE, Chair, NP11; Richelle Schuster, Head of Innovation, Leeds City Council; Professor Iain Clacher, University of Leeds and more…

Not to mention, FinTech North’s very own Director, Julian Wells and Chairman, Christopher Sier. Julian will be speaking in an opening address, with Chris contributing to a panel discussion focused on the regulators’ and policymakers’ perspective on FinTech.
