FinTech North & FinTech Scotland to partner in 2019

FinTech North and FinTech Scotland, two of the UK’s leading lights in FinTech outside of London, are to collaborate across a number of initiatives over the course of 2019.

FinTech Scotland’s CEO, Stephen Ingledew, will deliver a keynote at FinTech North’s full day conferences in Manchester and Leeds, which take place on 17th April and 23rd May respectively. Stephen will share the FinTech Scotland story so far and share his thoughts on the evolution of FinTech communities and economies.

Later in the year, FinTech North will partner with FinTech Scotland to deliver the inaugural FinTech collaboration conference in Scotland. The date and venue are yet to be announced but it will take place at some point after ‘Scotland’s FinTech Festival’, in September,  an initiative introduced by FinTech Scotland last year to bring together FinTech innovators from across the country and around the world.

Julian Wells, Director of FinTech North, says:

“Its a pleasure to welcome Stephen and FinTech Scotland to our first two major conferences of 2019. We have enjoyed a mutually supportive relationship since the creation of FinTech Scotland in 2018 and the progress made by Stephen and the team in that time is highly impressive. We look forward to developing even stronger links with FinTech Scotland over the coming months and are excited to run our first event north of the border later this year.”

Stephen Ingledew, CEO of FinTech Scotland, says:

“FinTech Scotland is delighted to be working with the FinTech North team, with whom we share a common passion for the development of strong and vibrant FinTech communities and economy across the country. In Scotland over the last year we have made significant progress in bringing together the innovative Scottish FinTech community across multiple cities, organisations and universities and I look forward to sharing our journey with the FinTech North community.”

FinTech North is an events-based initiative operating in the north. Founded in Leeds in 2016 by Whitecap Consulting and White Label Crowdfunding, it has now expanded into a series of conferences and events across multiple locations. FinTech North has hosted over 30 events attracting over 3300 delegate registrations from over 600 different companies, with speakers drawn from 20 countries.

FinTech Scotland is the enterprise established by the Scottish Government, University of Edinburgh and the private sector to drive economic growth in financial services through innovation, collaboration and inclusion. Operating as a strategic enabler, it aims to support the growth of the community of FinTech firms and establish collaboration across the broader FinTech economy.

Both FinTech North and FinTech Scotland are chaired by HM Treasury FinTech Envoys, roles which were created to help promote FinTech outside London. Chris Sier is FinTech Envoy for the Northern Powerhouse and chairs FinTech North, while David Ferguson is Scotland’s FinTech Envoy and chair of FinTech Scotland.
