FinTech North announce new partnership with Money Carer to champion financial inclusion for vulnerable adults
We’re delighted to announce our new partnership with Money Carer, the award-winning social enterprise dedicated to protecting the finances of some of the UK’s most vulnerable people.
Founded in 2009, Money Carer is a national social enterprise providing specialist banking, appointeeship, deputyship and everyday money management services for vulnerable adults, including those living with disabilities, dementia and mental health challenges. As a national partner of the Department for Work and Pensions, Money Carer works alongside more than 100 local authorities, around 300 law firms and hundreds of care providers, using its own banking and payments platform, Monika, to support thousands of clients to manage their finances safely and with dignity.

Financial inclusion is a theme that runs right through our community, and Money Carer brings a rare depth of focus to it — building the systems and safeguards that allow the most vulnerable people to manage their own money independently and with dignity. It’s a mission that sits close to the purpose-driven spirit we see across the North, and one that feels especially timely as conversations about accessible, responsible finance continue to grow. Money Carer is headquartered in Warrington, in the North West of England, giving them a genuine footing in the region and a natural connection to the wider Northern FinTech community.
We’ve already begun building this relationship over the past year, with Money Carer speaking on a financial inclusion panel at our Leeds conference and featuring in the showcase at our Newcastle conference, where purpose-driven FinTech was a strong theme of the day. As part of the partnership, that relationship continues – Money Carer will take to the stage at our Northern FinTech Summit, and featured as a partner across FinTech North’s channels throughout the year, with the opportunity to share their news and insights with the community as the partnership develops.
We’re looking forward to welcoming Money Carer into the FinTech North community and to the conversations, collaboration and shared learning this partnership will bring in the months ahead.
Joe Roche, General Manager, FinTech North:
“Financial inclusion means very little if it doesn’t reach the people who need it most, and Money Carer has spent over fifteen years building the infrastructure to make sure it does. We’re proud to have them as part of our community and excited to see the impact their work will have across the North.”
Sean Tyrer, CEO and Founder at Money Carer stated:
“We’re delighted to see the rapid progression of the North’s fintech ecosystem and the global reputation it rightly deserves, which has been built upon centuries of quiet innovation in the region. We have always championed the North’s ability to put community at the heart of everything. These values mirror what Money Carer strives for, which is why this partnership with Fintech North is key as we, alongside the fintech community, aim to significantly improve the financial lives of millions of vulnerable individuals across the North and the wider UK. Looking forward to getting stuck in and actually doing as opposed to talking.”
