Vocalink will sponsor FinTech North Leeds conference for the second year running

Vocalink has once again been announced as a sponsor of FinTech North’s showpiece Leeds conference.

For the second consecutive year, the payments technology company has confirmed it will be supporting the annual FinTech North conference in Leeds. The conference takes place on 26th April and features speakers from across the FinTech industry covering a range of topics including regulation, open banking, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and skills and resources.

John Holdsworth, Operations & Technology Business Development Director at Vocalink, will join a panel discussion on the topic of skills and resources which will feature representatives from all three of the Leeds universities as well as the Open Data Institute.

Vocalink, a Mastercard company designs, builds and operates industry-leading bank account-based payment systems. It’s technologies power the UK’s real-time payments, settlements and direct debit systems, as well as the UK’s network of over 70,000 ATMS. In 2016, Vocalink processed over 90 percent of UK salaries, more than 70 percent of household bills and almost all state benefits.

John Holdsworth, Operations & Technology Business Development Director at Vocalink, says:

“Vocalink has a long established and significant presence in Yorkshire via our Harrogate operation, which employs over 260 people. In addition to our central role in the payments industry, we have been a strong advocate of regional employers forging closer links with the education system and supporting a number of initiatives including the creation of our own apprenticeship scheme.”

Julian Wells, Director of FinTech North, says:

“Vocalink are great supporters of FinTech North and are always well represented at our monthly seminars in Leeds, so it is great to have their support for our annual conference once again. Their role in the global and UK FinTech ecosystem is well known but their involvement in the regional FinTech economy in Yorkshire is less well known and we’re delighted to play our part in helping raise awareness of their considerable efforts in this space.”

In 2018 FinTech North is also organising conferences in Manchester and Liverpool, and expects to have over 800 delegates in attendance in total.
